We were asked to create a highlights reel for the inaugural OX to ZERO event at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford. The event bought together Oxfordshire’s most innovative thinkers, investors and entrepreneurs at a new one day event exploring the potential of new ideas, technologies and companies to accelerate the net zero transformation. The founding event partners were University of Oxford, UK Atomic Energy Authority, Harwell and OxLEP.
It’s clear we must make significant changes to address the effects of climate change. Ox to Zero explores how innovation can help the world to net zero, faster. From bacteria that eat carbon, to drastically more effective solar power, to electrically powered flight, to fusion power breakthroughs – innovation is central to meeting the climate challenge.
For this highlights film we based it around a Vox Pops approach, and made sure we arrived early to capture guests arriving. One of our client’s team joined us to act as interviewer and participant-wrangler, which is always a good idea as it allows our clients to know exactly what they are getting in the way of interview answers. We used our interviewer to pull participants out to our camera throughout the day, and in between interviews captured dynamic b-roll and supporting footage of the events taking place, as well as networking, lunch chats and general ambience. The film was a great success and allowed the event to live beyond the physical place and day.
