ORN Furniture approached us wanting something special for their homepage and to promote their business at trade shows. They requested a short film that would show off their user journey, their wide product range and focus on sustainability.
ORN told us that they believe in today’s world, sustainability is a key concern for businesses of all sizes. Companies are increasingly recognising the importance of adopting environmentally friendly practices to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a better future. One way in which businesses can achieve this is by incorporating modular furniture into their office spaces. Modular furniture is designed to be flexible and adaptable. It consists of individual pieces that can be easily assembled, disassembled, and reconfigured to suit different needs and preferences. It is not only versatile and functional but also sustainable.
For this film we visited four locations over for days – London, Warwickshire, Yorkshire and Lancashire. This was to cover form main areas of ORN’s design and construction process: metal, wood, textiles and finally the finished products in the showroom. This was great as it gave us a wide range of unique moments to capture which we could then seamlessly blend together in an exciting, fast-paced montage.
For the majority of moments we used a combination of a shoulder-mounted camera, slider, gimbal and creative lighting to achieve the look we wanted. The request was for something that sat between a documentary and a glossy promo video, so we married loose, unplanned-feeling handheld moments with flashier slow-mo planned shots. A series of captions break up the action and help pinpoint key moments in the narrative.
Finally we added a rather ‘Hollywood’ colour grade to the whole film – which upped the dramatic tones and added extra colour contrast to bring out the orange (warm) and teal (cool) hues– and also went big ion a dramatic sound design to really sell the result when played at events.
The result was a huge success and ORN were delighted with the resulting film.
