Our friends at ORN Furniture wanted to demonstrate their new product range in a friendly, informative and genuine Product Filmmaking way – just as they would if you walked into their showroom.
After a brief discussion we settled on putting lead designer Tom Potts front and centre, as there is nobody more knowledgeable about the furniture range than the person who designed it!
At ORN’s sleek showroom in Clerkenwell, London, we worked with Tom to come up with a list of features to cover for each product and a smooth manner to deliver the information. For the example seen on this page, a modular shelving system called Konnect, we began by filming several takes of the demo and walkthrough with Tom speaking on camera. Each take got progressively better, with more practice for both presenter and camera operator producing great results. Once this was done, we were able to light and shoot a list of close ups and features that had been mentioned, which also allowed parts of several of the ‘demo’ takes to be seamlessly joined together. The result was the best of both: a demo that feels ‘live’ and genuine, while also getting controlled close ups of key details.
The resulting range of product demo films was a huge success and ORN now use them on their website to showcase their products in a virtual manner.
